I wonder how much of that deflecting is just racism. And in Canada that culprit is Alberta.

No doubt there is quite a bit of that and jingoism and xenophobia for good measure.

Well, it's decarbonized its electricity production quite a lot (more to be done) but seeing that it has the longest history of emissions, it's not all that impressive as it might seem.

I guess the deindustrialisation helped too....

I was going to add that the transformation into a service economy from a manufacturing one also played a large part since the '80s.
